STATEMENT ON PALESTINE

We believe in transmuting capitalism with love and ending the militarization of our earth that hurts all. We follow in the Jewish tradition of Tikkun Olam, repairing the world. We do this by changing our own behaviors to be in alignment with Indigenous values, and to create a world where every Jew feels safe and welcome. By insisting on changed behavior, we are healing the soul of the Jewish people.

As an organization, we are deeply committed to Indigenous solidarity where we live and with the people of Palestine and all liberation movements. Although the Jewish people began in the land of Israel, too many cycles of anti-semitic violence and the entry into capitalism have turned our people into tools of settler colonial violence on that same land. Our cultural and religious history have been co-opted for the colonial, capitalist, militarist, patriarchal, racist nation of Israel today. This is why we understand Israel as a settler colonial nation, just like the United States and many other nations, and therefore part of our decolonial work is to critique it, just as we do other nations and governments.

We see our bodies as our homes, and we expect to live respectfully with the land and other peoples within our lifetimes. We urge every person who lives in a colonized nation to withdraw their consent from capitalism, end their loyalty to all national narratives, and give the land back to Indigenous peoples. We believe that the Jewish people have enough friends who will ensure our safety and belonging in this new world. When we give the land back to its original caretakers, we heal the land and ourselves.
